Go away, Rain!

grocery shopping was extremely tough today.. i'm so tired.. but glad that i'm now snuggly tuck in bed with my electric blanket switched on to the highest power while typing this! haha..

i missed my bus, 100, because i was waiting for a pair of socks to dry in the the dryer.. i ended up cold and wet, waiting at the bus stop for 30mins before the next one came.. i alighted at the 2nd stop (yup, i could have walk! but the weather makes it tough!) not knowing that the 3rd stop was actually closer to The Parade~ *sigh* braved the cold and rain and walked quickly towards Foodland.. i heard from Miyuki that this supermarket offers better prices than Coles!

i was all frozen when i got there and Cibo Espresso was warm and inviting! i went in for a cup of Hot Chocolate and had a Mignon Babá.. gosh! it was so yummy! the sponge cake was saturated with a sweet syrup and alcohol.. and not to mention the vanilla custard in the center! deliciously sinful! http://www.ciboespresso.com.au/

after this tiny break, i went in to Foodland and got a full bag of groceries with my staples of milk, bread, ham.. a box of biscuits, loads of veggies, some chicken thigh fillets and some minced pork.. i havent thought of what to do with them but i guess i'll know when the time comes! hehez..

i realised i should have just gone to the city to get groceries when i had to balance my umbrella with my groceries! i know the timings for the buses in the city better and there are more sheltered places to hide while waiting for the buses.. the bus stop for 100 near The Parade does not have a shelter.. lucky for me, 100 came within 5mins.. i really dont think i can last much longer with the heavy load while the wind and rain attack me!

Back in Adelaide!

i'm back in my own bed! there's no time difference for this entry now.. i'm tired from the flight..

BEFORE THE FLIGHT
Sun sent me to the airport.. the flight was alright but checking in was a hassle.. i went to the Baggage Service counter first to report the crack in the lock.. the lady behind the counter gave me a letter so i could bring my luggage for repair services at the one-and-only repair place for Qantas in Adelaide, which is on Gilbert Street..

that done, i proceeded to the check-in counter to check in my luggages.. all 3 luggages were checked in but i had to pay A$22 for the third piece.. which was quite a good deal considering all that i was carrying!

i asked the lady at the check-in counter to tag a Fragile Sticker on one of the bags.. the price i have to pay was that i have to drop off this particular piece of luggage to another place for "Oversized and Fragile Baggage"..

finally, i had to go to the 4th counter to pay for my extra luggage! gosh, that's running around 4 counters just to check in! luckily, Perth Domestic Airport is really small!

THE AFTERMATH: A SERIOUSLY INJURED LOJEL
when i picked up my luggages after the flight, i discovered that the luggage with the cracked lock has another 2 cracked locks (this Lojel luggage has 4 locks in total)!! the original one that was cracked wasnt cracked anymore! half the lock has fallen off! hence, it's not cracked anymore, it's partially destroyed!!! i went to the Baggage Service counter again to report the new damages before taking a cab back to Maylands.. really, are they too rough or is my luggage too old?

NO DINNER!
got back home to realise that i've got nothing to eat because i was so busy clearing my stock before going away that i didnt keep any stock for tonight! luckily, i had a packet of Nissin Tonkotsu! and even luckier, Jo made muffins and offered me one! i picked a White Chocolate.. Jo also made Chocolate Chip and Blueberry! yum~

did a load of laundry, took a shower.. all ready to rest!

relax~

it's 0840 in Perth.. SL and HM has gone to work.. i'm eating breakfast and typing this at the moment.. hehez.. breakfast in Perth and breakfast in Adelaide has quite a bit of difference.. wahaha.. i'm enjoying my every meal here!

Yesterday's dinner at Shige Sushi Bar was wonderful.. Sinnie treated me to dinner! i ordered a Jibuni and rice.. we shared the small Sushi Combination and both Amy and Sinnie had Udon.. little Jackson had 3 pieces of the orginal Chicken Roll.. Amy and son, Jackson, were invited by Sinnie and i had the pleasure of meeting them and listening to Amy's stories..

also, i know exactly where Sinnie's office is now.. i went down to her office and waited for her to pack up, went to Coles to get some stuff before heading the Shige-san's.. because the table's booked for 6.30pm.. Shige-san seemed to have lost a bit of weight.. now that Manami's not there anymore.. i bet Manami's the best help he has ever got! came straight home after dinner because it was pouring and that really dampens the mood..

SL was home and we chatted for some time before showering and heading to bed, more chats and sleepy us have to sleep! Poor girl has been sleeping late everyday because of me! from tonight onwards, i'll be going to Sun's house to stay till i fly.. and Sun will be sending me to the airport..

the money i left on the kitchen bench for HM last night was returned to me this morning.. it was for the dinner at Sparrows on Wednesday night.. HM and his friend joined us for dinner.. SL returned it to me this morning before leaving for work..

me: "huh? how come?"
SL: "his treat, silly~!"
me: "oh, shoot!"

i have got to thank him properly later tonight.. we had 5 dishes that night:

1. Ikan Bakar
2. Ayam Bali
3. Rendang
4. Ayam Asam Manis
5. Terong Semur

my favourites are the first 3.. and Ikan Bakar is really the top of the list!!! the meatballs used for Ayam Asam Manis were too rubbery for me.. Terong Semur doesnt really leave an impression! and all of us had a Chendol each.. actually, HM has 2.. hehez.. Sparrows is yummy when you know what to order!

Waterford Plaza..

it's 1435 in Perth now and i've just got home.. went to Karawara with Sun this morning for brunch.. Village Green, we used to call it, short for The Village Green Shopping Centre.. it's called The Waterford Plaza now after renovations and upgrading!

Sun had a craving for Jesters Pies! she ordered a Pavarotti (Chicken Carbonara: skin-free Chicken with Bacon & Button Mushrooms in an Italian Cheese sauce) and i ordered a Spud Deluxe (premium ground Beef with creamy Potato, Bacon & finished with Cheddar Cheese)! super yummy~ havent had it for a long time! and i just found out that there's Jesters Pies in SA too! haha! http://www.jesters.com.au/

Sun left for work at around 11.30am and i went to Gloria Jean's for a Irish Nut Creme while waiting for Yayoi.. she came at around 1.05pm, looking very rushed.. i later found out that her lunch break's only half an hour! no wonder! gosh, i was assuming that it was an hour.. geez.. she got herself a Cappuccino while we chatted during this precious 30mins.. it was good to know that she's now doing much better than where we used to be working!

Yayoi rushed back to work again and i left GJ's and went to Domino's! wahaha.. a whole pizza to myself!!! but to my dismay, my Meatball Monster is no longer on the menu!!! Arghh~! Gosh, i ended up ordering a Meatosaurus (BBQ sauce, Mozzarella cheese, seasoned Chicken, Don smoked Bacon and Onion) to take away.. i was happy with my lunch until i realised that i forgot to order it on Thin 'n' Crispy!!! i was already on the bus home! *sigh* it ended up on the Classic Crust.. oh well, it's better than nothing! http://www.dominos.com.au/home/

will be having dinner with Sinnie at Shige Sushi Bar later! we've booked an table for 6pm but we are placed on the Sushi Bar.. because apparently, the floor's all booked! and we may be going shopping at Carousel after that! Yeah!

Back in Perth again!

it's 1415 in Perth now.. i have just finished packing the stuff that i wasnt able to bring home last July.. time really flies! a year later, i'm back here.. i remembered SL standing on Anstey Street, bidding me farewell while Del picked me and Manami up to go to the airport.. now i'm back typing this entry in South Perth!

everyone's at work now.. but Sun picked me up for brunch at Gloria Jean's at Victoria Park in the morning before she started work at 12noon.. we had a Chicken, Bacon and Avocado Filo, a slice of Lemon Lime Brulee, a Flat White (for Sun) and a Irish Nut Creme (for me).. yummy! catching up over a coffee is so~ relaxing!

she sent me home before rushing to work at the lab.. hardworking girl, this one! i came home to pack my stuff.. went to the Post Office to enquire about the rates for sending parcels to Adelaide.. i wont be able to squeeze all that i left behind into my luggages! called Qantas as well to check the rates for excess luggage.. turned out that it will be cheaper to just pay for my extra bag at the airport!

i discovered a crack on my luggage buckle.. so i will be bringing it to the Baggage Service counter this coming Sunday to see what Qantas will do about it.. i didnt realised it was cracked after i touched down yesterday.. all i did was got onto a cab and headed straight here to South Perth.. i went to the City after depositing my luggages here because i want to eat Miso Katsu!!!

Glorious, this is~

took a walk in the city and came back to South Perth for a shower while waiting for SL to come home and for Sun to pick us up! Sun came about 6.15pm and we attended WY's farewell dinner.. doesnt felt too long ago when they did a farewell for me! WY's farewell wasnt organised by us (me, SL and Sun).. instead we were asked to meet at Chi Restaurant at Vitoria Park last night..

http://www.yourrestaurants.com.au/guide/

there were about 15 of us sitting at 2 tables.. and WY, as usual, was late! her flight was at 9.30pm and at about 6.45pm, she arrived for dinner! *breathe a sigh of relief* luckily her other friends have already ordered the dishes and they were served before she got there! she only has about half an hour to briefly catch up with us before she left for the airport at 7.15pm.. she may be extremely happy-go-lucky.. but to be having dinner casually before being rushed off to the airport is GUTS to me! farewells are inevitable.. but she'll be back to Perth in mid-November for her Masters!

after we left the restaurant, Sun, SL and me went to Icey Ice Snow Ice, a few shops down, for dessert! http://www.iceyice.com.au/home.php

we ordered a large Mango King!

the mascot for Icey Ice Snow Ice..
a humongous penguin sitting in the corner..

everything is in a shade of blue.. that's their iconic colour to signify the icy world.. it does take some time to get use to.. hehez.. Sun sent us home and came in for another chat before going home at 11pm.. oh, so fun!

Here i come, Perth!

i'm packing my bags again~ though this time round, there really isnt much to pack.. except for the clothes that i'll be wearing for 6 days and my personal items! easy! packing cant be easier than this.. at least for me, this is one of the lightest packing i've ever done in, say, 5 years!

Sun has planned an itinerary for me! Gosh, it was comprehensive! with a time table of where we will be at what time and the yum~ stuff that we will be eating! Impressive job, Sun! Really looking forward, though i foresee tomorrow to be an exceptionally tiring day.. at least i'll get to rest for a while at SL's place before Sun picks us up! Hooray!

Singapore Noodles?

both my lunch and dinner today were simple affairs.. lunch was Rocket, Avocado and Corn Salad.. with a bit of Nissin Tonkotsu instant noodles! dinner was a steamed Corn, steamed Sugar Snap Peas, 2 slices of Sizzle Steak with RICE!!!

i finally managed to steam some rice today, without the help of a rice cooker! it was quite a success but i reckon rice cooked with a rice cooker taste better~ no photos for today because my camera ran out of battery.. hehez.. i have only ate rice on 4 occasions since i arrived here.. twice was Buy-2-Get-1-Free Sushi, once was with S at the Chinese restaurant and today, my own steamed rice!

was in the kitchen cooking dinner when Miyuki asked me what's Singapore Noodles.. she went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner today.. i really have to scratch my head before telling her that there's really no such thing called the Singapore Noodles.. because there are so many types of noodles in Singapore, cooked with different ingredients and methods.. but i know the Chinese restaurants in Australia love to use these names that are linked to countries to entice Australian customers to order them..

well, the first thing that came to my mind was Mee Goreng! yum~ Hokkien Mee came second.. and when Miyuki told me it was too spicy for her, i knew it was Mee Goreng! i dont think the Chinese migrants here are that skilled to be selling authentic Hokkien Mee.. instead they love to churn up different varieties of Mee Goreng, just by adding too much Soya Sauce or Tomato Ketchup.. more often than not, they are too sweet for my liking.. cant wait to try some of the Thai or Japanese restaurants here though.. wait till i get a job!

was also getting ready for my upcoming Perth trip!!! packed the clothes i need.. planned my schedule and got in touch with my friends there.. unfortunately, Sun has to work on Tuesday and cant pick me up from the airport.. so i'll get a cab and head straight to South Perth and let myself into SL's house (which, 1 year ago, was my house too.. haha!)! meanwhile, i can pack the stuff that i left in Perth into my luggages before Sun and SL finish work.. the plan for that evening is to meet up with WY and J for WY's farewell.. really looking forward!!!
